At our September Messy Church ...
Praying with othersEvery Tuesday morning at 9.00am there is a gathering of people in the Immanuel Prayer Chapel to pray for the needs of people in our community and world. All welcome.
Do you want others to pray for you?Sometimes it is nice to know that someone is praying for you.
You are welcome to share your prayer request with Pastor Nigel. If you want others to pray about this too, please let him know. If you give him permission he will share your request with others in the Immanuel Community. The Immanuel community values prayer. There are many prayer groups across the commuinty including an SMS prayer group. Walking the Immanuel Labyrinth |
We enjoyed lots of interactive activities to learn what prayer is and explore different ways we can pray.
We even enjoyed the opportunity to walk the new Immanuel Labyrinth. You can walking the Immanuel Labyrinth again ..... Before we walked the Labyrinth individuals watched this video to get the idea of how to walk. Afterwards, we received some special testimonies from and adults children like. One child said: "While I was walking the labyrinth and reflecting on the bible verse, God told me that he is going to look after me.' Praise God for his promises!
The Five Finger PrayerAs part of our celebration time Andrew taught a version of a 'Five Finger prayer'
It was a very helpful way of reminding ourselves of some of the things we can talk to God about. Try this with your family! 1) Your thumb is closest to you- pray for those that are closest to you. 2) Your pointer finger reminds us of those who point to Jesus – Pray for those who point us to Jesus and point us in the right direction.. pastor.. mentor.. teacher. 3) Your Index finger, stands tallest, and is closest to God...praise him. 4) Your ring/friendship finger reminds us of our relationships. Pray for your family and friends and those that need God’s love today. 5) Your pinky finger is your smallest finger – pray for your own needs last. There are many examples of 5 finger prayers prayers: Here are some other Five Finger prayer resources you might also like to use at home: |
The Lord's Prayer
This is the translation of the Lord's Prayer that we use at every gathering of Messy Church at Immanuel.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
